Workers Express Program
What is Worker's Express?
Workers Express is a project funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Pocono Workforce Investment Board. It is a temporary program meant to help eligible individuals with children get to and from work and day care. For eligibility information, contact Sharon at MCTA at (570) 243-3434.
Who can use Worker's Express?
Anyone who is working, has a dependent child, is a resident of Monroe County, and is determined eligible, can use the service. A variety of options are available through a new voucher program
*Fixed Route bus tickets, (Free) maximum 40 tickets/mth, up to 6 mths.
*Shared Ride Vouchers are issued based on 20 work days/mth at $20.00/day up to 3 mths. (Transportation on Shared Ride only are limited to $400.00/mth and is pro-rated for the portions of a month traveled.) *Mileage Reimbursement options are possible through MCTA.
Hours of Service
This program operates seven days a week and most hours of the day or evening.

Transportation is available throughout Monroe County and limited surrounding areas.
How do I Register?
To apply, you must complete an application. Applications can be obtained by calling (570) 243-3434. Eligibility is based on monthly income and dependent status.
How do I Schedule Service?
Once you are approved for the program, you will need to schedule an appointment with the Pocono Alliance to pick up your vouchers or bus tickets and choose your transportation provider. Vouchers are issued based on $20.00/day, 5 days/wk, up to $400.00/mth. You must schedule your transportation with your transportation provider directly. Shared Ride requires you to book your trip, 2 business days before you travel. To book your ride with Shared ride, please call (570) 839-8210 x 1, Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.(Taxi's can vary.) You must have exact change and plan to budget your vouchers and cash accordingly. Vouchers are non-refundable and non transferrable.
As a courtesy ot others, plan to be ready for your ride at least 15 minutes prior to your assigned pick up time. Please be sure you can see and be seen by the driver. If the driver is more than 20 minues late, call your transportation provider immediately.
Canceling your Ride
As a courtesy to others, and to ensure you are not charged a "no-show" fee, you must cancel your ride at least two hours in advance from your sheduled pick up time by calling your transportation provider directly.
