Eligibility and Application Requirements...
The Rural Transportation for Persons with Disabilities Program is a transportation service that reduces the fare for eligible disabled persons lending affordable and accessible transportation for disabled citizens in rural areas. Disabled persons between the ages of 18 and 64 may travel anywhere in Monroe County with this program. If you live or travel within 1/4 of a mile from any MCTA fixed route, you will be required to use our ADA Fixed Route Program.
The program can be used for various purposes such as medical appointments, shopping and employment to name a few. Some exclusions do apply, where PennDot has determined that other transportation funding exists.
If you are interested in applying for this program, please complete, sign and return the attached application. Written evidence of your disability must accompany your application.
Upon receipt of your application and written evidence of disability, you will be notified within 15 business days of your eligibility for the PWD and any other possible funding sources available to you for transportation purposes.
Once enrolled, you may phone our dispatch office at 570- 839-8210 to schedule your ride. Reservations are taken up to 12:00 noon the business day prior to service but can be made up to one week in advance. Please refer to “Shared Ride Days of Operation” to find the days of the week we provide service to your area. For questions regarding times and scheduling, please phone dispatch at 570-839-8210.
Please Note: All cancellations must be made at least 2hrs prior to your scheduled pick up time.
Riders are responsible for a portion of the fare under this program. Fares for the PWD are divided into 4 zones and are payable to the driver at the time of transport. Exact change is required.
Fares for PWD
Zone 1&2 0 - 8 miles $2.50
Zone 3 8- 12 miles $2.60
Zone 4 12-16 miles $3.05
Zone 5 16 + miles $3.40
New North/South loop $4.50
