"Transportation for Persons with Medical Assistance"
(MATP) Medical Assistance Transportation Program is a transportation service funded by Monroe County Public Assistance. Consumers with Medical Assistance are eligible to receive transportation to medical appointments and services covered by Medical Assistance.
Medical Assistance Plans Accepted:
- Access
- Access Plus
- Med Plus
- Amerihealth Mercy
- Unison
Services offered through the MATP Program include:
- Fixed Route Service
- Mileage Reimbursement
- Shared Ride for consumers living more than 1/4 mile from our public fixed route.
- Taxi Service when deemed necessary
*MCTA determines the most cost effective and appropriate mode of transportation.
Areas Served:
- The Public Fixed Route offers service 7 days a week throughout Monroe County.
- Some routes have limited service. Please check the bus schedule for times and locations.
Bus Schedule
- Shared Ride operates Monday through Friday serving consumers living in outer lying areas of the county. It also serves consumers requiring services in some locations outside the county.

Shared Ride Policies and Procedures:
- Please be ready one hour prior to pick-up.
- Drivers can not offer personal assistance nor enter your home for any reason.
- Medical escorts must be approved in adavance.
- All riders must wear seatbelts.
- Under PA law; children under age 8 are required to ride in an age/weight appropriate child restraint seat.
- No smoking or eating allowed on any vehicles.
How to Enroll:
All riders must be registered in advance. You may phone our office at 570-839-6282 to request an application or you may download it from this page. We apologize that we are unable to accept your application electronically at this time. Please return your completed and signed application with an attached photo copy(s) of your Medical Assistance Card to MCTA; "Pocono Pony," PO Box 339, Scotrun, PA 18355. Additional family members with Medical Assistance may be included on the same application. Please provide photo copies of all applicants. Applications are normally process within 72 hours from the point we receive it.
Please include clear copies of your Medical Assistance Card(s). Your application cannot be processed with out your attached copie(s).

How to Schedule your Ride:
Once registered you may book your ride by calling our dispatch line at 570-839-8210. All rides must be booked before 12:00 noon the day prior to your trip. Two or three days advance notice is recommended. A minimum of 3 days advance notice is required for all out of county trips.
When Scheduling Your Ride, please have the following ready:
- Your Name
- Address for Pick-up
- Phone Number
- Date of Trip
- Appointment Time
- Destination Address
- Any Special Needs You may Have.
Cancellations:
All cancellations require a minimum of 2 hours advance notice. If sufficient notice is not given, you will be considered a "NO SHOW" If your record reflects 2 or more "No Shows," you may be suspended from this program.
